Wakefield council gets input on potential purchase.

Written by on November 24, 2020

WAKEIFLED – The Wakefield City council heard input of purchase of the former Lakeshore Equipment property in the city industrial property. The city is considering moving its garage operations to that location, as current facilities are badly outdated, old and in poor repair. City Manager Robert Brown offered a synopsis from city resident Robert Blaskowski, who had provided a lengthy letter opposing the purchase for the Nov. 9 meeting. Blaskowski letter this week suggested the city build a new structure north of the Drier machine shop on old U.S. 2. There were no other comments on the purchase. Brown said he has consulted with city attorney Ray O’Dea and the council should have language for a purchase agreement to consider at its Dec. 14 meeting. In any case, public hearings will be held in advance of any action and purchase would be contingent on the city’s ability to procure financing. More detail and comment in this weeks Wakefield News / Bessemer Pick and Axe.
