Investigation under way into stolen and vandalized campaign signs

BESSEMER – An investigation is under way into stolen and vandalized campaign signs in Gogebic County. The Sheriff’s Office says while this is a particularly contentious election year people have the right to express their support for the candidate, they feel is best qualified to lead. Michigan law prohibits removing campaign materials from private property without gaining permission from the property owner. Stealing or defacing signs is a misdemeanor that can carry a $500 fine or imprisonment of up to 93 days.
