LANSING – A Note to Pepsi. The Upper Peninsula became part of Michigan in 1836 to resolve the Toledo War between the militia of the Michigan Territory and the state of Ohio. In online marketing for Mountain Dew, however, the U.P. is shown as an extension of Wisconsin and has resulted in some Yoopers getting riled up and others making light of it. On Twitter, an account named @UpperPeninsula demanded the ad be fixed and a free case of Mountain Dew be sent to all residents.
