IRONWOOD – The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Flood Advisory for much of the UP including Gogebic and Ontonagon County. Moderate to at times heavy rain along with snowmelt will cause flooding throughout the area. On the Black River near Bessemer rainfall of 1.25 to 1.5 inches has occurred in the Black River basin since yesterday morning with the majority of that rain occurring since last evening. Additional moderate to heavy rain will occur through the day today which will push the river past flood stage. Rain will diminish tonight, but the river is not expected to fall back below flood stage until later tonight. Flooding on some rivers will continue through much of this week with a chance for rain over the next several days.
