[VERBATIM: Scott Salmi will be in jail for at least eight years for his guilty plea to possessing and selling methamphetamine. Police say that in March of last year Salmi received the drug in the mail at the restaurant he worked at. A second charge resulted in August while Salmi was out on bond and found in possession of controlled substances. Four other charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal. Salmi received credit for 258 days served in jail prior to sentencing on the delivery sentence and 243 days credit on the possession sentence. Charges of delivery of meth, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance near a school or library, and resisting and obstructing an officer were dismissed at sentencing as part of the plea agreement. The case was primarily investigated by the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team.
