BAYFIELD – Most public areas in Bayfield will soon be smoke free. The Ashland Daily Press reports the policy was first considered by the city’s park department and planning and zoning team with input from members of the Northwest Wisconsin Lung Health Alliance. The Bayfield City Council approved an ordinance making all city owned parks and outdoor spaces tobacco free mid-March. The ordinance includes all playgrounds, beaches, trails, boat docks and launches and campgrounds. Bayfield joins the cities of Ashland and Superior in having a tobacco ordinance. The city will install signs in every park in the city with financial support from Northwest Wisconsin Lung Health Alliance.
