GCC Board of Trustees approve Mt. Zion Project

IRONWOOD – The Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees approved the Mt. Zion expansion project at their regular monthly meeting. The proposal includes a 7,500 sq foot two-story multi-purpose building for year-round use. The main floor would be used for the operation of the ski hill to include the rental ship, lift ticket office, rental space, ADA compliant restrooms, elevator, kitchen and open seating. The second floor would include classroom space for the Ski Area Management program and continuing education summer programs; office space for the SAM director, open seating for overflow of chalet visitors, viewing area for ski and snow cross races. The second floor will include movable walls to accommodate small and large groups. The building will legally seat 215 people, allowing the space to be rented for banquets, weddings and other events.
