ASHLAND – The 100 Who Care Ashland and Bayfield Counties has finished its first year in existence, with the groups donating over $45,000 to local charities. The Ashland Daily Press reports the most recent award of $12,600 was made to the Evelyn Goldbriggs Memorial / Iron River Library. The 126 members of the collective gave $100 each for the most recent grant. The members nominate non-profits and then the top nominees present to the members at large and then members vote, and the organization receives a grant. Beside the library, the New Day Advocacy Center, Superior Rivers Watershed Association and NorthLakes’ Peer Support Specialist program all received grants this year. The new giving cycle will begin in July with an event in the social services category.
