BESSEMER – The Bessemer Downtown Development Authority has decided to move forward and seek an outside point of view on how to improve the city’s downtown area. The Globe reports that at its meeting last week, the board reviewed a request for proposals that invites multi-disciplinary teams with experience in rural and urban planning, civil engineering, and other related disciplines to submit proposals to assist with a financing plan for the city of Bessemer. Mayor Adam Zak expressed comfort with hiring an expert, which in the long run could protect the city’s interests, in case the need to bond would arise. Overall, the idea sat well with the members of the DDA, but they said the first thing the city should do is check the files and review helpful information it has already collected.
