Rain and Snow on the way!

IRONWOOD - An approaching system from the south will bring widespread precipitation to the Upper Peninsula later today through Thursday. Initially later this afternoon and evening, precipitation is expected to start off as rain. As temperatures cool overnight into early Thursday morning rain is expected to switch over to snow, mixing with sleet and/or freezing rain at times. Overall, 1 to 3 inches of snow will be possible across far western and north central Upper Michigan. Greater snowfall amounts are expected across the higher terrain, especially over the spine of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Closer to Lake Superior, little to no accumulations are expected. If temperatures warm or cool a degree or two more than what is currently forecast, snowfall amounts could be lower or higher.
