Wintery Mix on the way

Written by on April 3, 2023

IRONWOOD – The Gogebic Range getting a break from the snow over the weekend.  The latest winter storm to affect the region made its presence known in parts of Northern Wisconsin and the central U.P.  Park Falls, Butternut and Glidden areas getting about a foot of snow, 15 inches of snow reported in Eagle River and parts of both Vilas and Oneida Counties.  Heavy snow resulted in the closure of Highway 51 south of Minocqua to Merrill Friday night into Saturday.    Ironwood only seeing about 2 to 3 inches of snow since Friday.  Eyes are now on the next winter storm that will bring a variety of weather to the region starting tomorrow night into Thursday.  The precipitation will start out as snow tomorrow before turning into a wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain tomorrow afternoon tomorrow night before switching over to all rain Wednesday morning. There could be up to one quarter of an inch of ice accumulations from this storm Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night.  A Winter Storm Watch has already been issued for Bayfield County in our listening area extending into Minnesota and for those on the North Shore.
