Wildfire on Isle Royale causes trails and campground closures

ISLE ROYALE, Mich. – A wildfire on Isle Royale has closed trails and campgrounds. According to the National Park Service, early in the afternoon on Saturday, August 13, park staff received reports of a plume of smoke coming from an apparent wildfire burning in area near Three Mile campground. The fire quickly grew to approximately 10 acres. Additional fire resources arrived at the park yesterday. The cause of the fire is under investigation about a dozen camping sites and trails have closed on the island due to the fire.
