White Pine receives grant to redevelop a mine.

WHITE PINE – A federal grant is awarded to expand the redevelopment of an Ontonagon County mine. The $700,000 award received by Northern Initiatives will go to help PM Power Group bring the existing Electro Metal Electrowinning pilot plant at the former White Pine Mine to full-scale production. The plant reclaims copper along with other precious and rare earth metals from material removed, recovered, and or diverted from landfills and other waste. The grant requires the creation or retention of at least 35 jobs.
