UPPER MICHIGAN – The search has begun for the 2023 Michigan State Christmas tree. The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget is responsible for finding and securing the tree destined for the Capitol grounds this Christmas. The last time a state tree came from the U.P. was in 2021 when a 63 foot spruce was harvested in Marenisco. DTMB Director Michelle Lange says the search team is on the lookout for the best tree and is asking for the public’s help. The deadline for tree nominations is Aug. 14. Anyone who would like to nominate a tree should email their name, telephone number, a photograph of the tree, and information about its size and location to ChristmasTree@michigan.gov
