ORV/ATV season underway

UPPER MICHIGAN – Off Road Vehicle Season Beginning In Michigan, DNR Advises Caution. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources reminds residents that with warmer weather, Off Road Vehicle Season has begun in the U.P., and with many trails already open, the DNR is recommending exercising caution. Trails in many areas may still be very soft due to flooding or even blocked. Riders should be sure and wear their helmet and other safety gear, and exercise common sense with regard to speeding on trails. Representative Jenn Hill of the 109th District is one of several Michigan lawmakers working to do away with ORV licensing programs, but for now, Hill says observe all state laws and be safe out there. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority says that trail 160/Bald Mountain at Nordling Road, it’s closed because of the softness of the trail, trees over the trail and water over the trail.
