Mercer Students participate in Annual Study.

MERCER – Mercer Middle School Students Participate in Annual Study. Eighth and ninth grade students in the Mercer School District are participating in the annual Iron County Loon and Lake Study, helping to support the world of the Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department. The students will make 3 field trips to nearby Fox Lake and Deer Lake, collecting water quality information as well as placing nesting platforms for resident loons. After that, students will observe loon nesting and breeding activity. The Loon and Lake Study has been going on for 21 years and provide invaluable information to the Conservation District.
