GOGEBIC / IRON COUNTY –The Michigan Department of Health is reporting 627 cases of COVID19 in Gogebic County an increase of 7 since yesterday. Ontonagon County with 266 cases an increase of 2 since yesterday. While the Wisconsin Department of Health reports 376 cases an increase of 5 cases since yesterday. As of last night, there have been a total of 12,840 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula during this outbreak. Of those, at least 6,871 are considered recovered and 284 have resulted in death. The seven-day average for positive tests in the U.P. sits at 7.9%. Upper Michigan added 166 new coronavirus cases Monday. The cumulative rate of positive diagnostic tests for Upper Michigan is 5.73% as of Dec. 7. COVID-19 hospitalizations, out of the 10 U.P. hospitals and health systems reporting, show 74 COVID-19 patients in Upper Michigan as of Monday, Dec. 7. Of those, 21 are in the intensive care unit (ICU). Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports 2,155 new cases, bringing the total case burden to 414,332. The state also reports 5,751 new negative tests yesterday. The seven-day average for percentage of positive cases remains elevated at 30.7%.
