GOGEBIC / IRON COUNTY – The Michigan Department of Health is reporting 160 cases of COVID19 in Gogebic County an increase of 5 since Friday. Ontonagon County with 44 an increase of 2 from Friday. While the Wisconsin Department of Health reports 144 cases in Iron County an increase of 1 from Friday. As of early this morning there have been a total of 2,751 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula during this outbreak. Of those, at least 1,132 are considered recovered and 39 have resulted in death. Upper Michigan added 132 coronavirus cases and two deaths Saturday. COVID-19 hospitalizations, out of the 10 U.P. hospitals and health systems reporting, show 44 COVID-19 patients in Upper Michigan as of Thursday, Oct. 1. Ten of those patients are in the ICU. Aspirus hospitals have two hospitalized patients, with none in the ICU. Wisconsin health officials say the state set a single-day record for COVID-19 cases with nearly 2,900 positive tests. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Saturday reported a 20.5% positivity rate from 14,084 tests that were processed in the last day. The previous record for new cases in a single day came on Thursday, with 2,887. Wisconsin ranks third in the country for new cases per capita.
