LAC DU FLAMBEAU – U.S. Department of Justice Supports Lac du Flambeau Indians in Boundary Dispute. The U.S. Department of Justice, in support of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has filed an amicus or “friend of the court” brief asking a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit brought by homeowners affected by the ongoing dispute and standoff over tribal road access. The tribe took down the barriers that blocking access to certain roads last month while all parties involved negotiated. The resident’s lawsuit continues to move through the court system. The tribe and town are slated to meet to continue negotiations on Friday.
