Hunting season is here!

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Yesterday was the kickoff of the firearm deer hunting season in Michigan. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in Marquette said despite the rain, wind and snow, they’ve almost reached the average number of deer checks on an opening day. It is a different kind of hunting season this year because of the pandemic. Hunters are encouraged to stay at least six feet away from those who don’t live in their household. Hunters heading to deer camp with others outside their household are reminded to wear masks if indoors or if they can’t be six feet apart. Hunters are also encouraged to sleep in separate rooms, tents, or trailers, if possible. The season will run until November 30. Wisconsin’s firearm deer season begins Saturday.
