GIANT drug bust!

BESSEMER – Another Drug related arrest in Gogebic County by the GIANT task force, 33-year-old Deantra Tawayne Harris, AKA. “King Wayne Harris”, from Ironwood, was arraigned yesterday in the 98th District Court on a multiple felony count complaint.  The arrested followed a multi-week investigation conducted by the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team also know as GIANT.  According to the sheriff’s office while under surveillance, G.I.A.N.T members conducted three separate controlled buys of Ecstasy, also known as MDMA, from Harris in the City of Ironwood.  Harris was arrested on January 17 in Wakefield Township.  Shortly after Harris’ arrest, a search warrant was authorized on Harris’ Ironwood residence and automobile resulting in the discovery of more illegal drugs and paraphernalia.  Criminal charges against Harris include three separate counts of delivery of Ecstasy, each punishable by 20 years and/or $25,000, a separate count of possession with intent to deliver Ecstasy, with a similar penalty resulting from the search of his home and auto as well as separate counts of possession of a weapon and ammunition by a felon, each of which is punishable by five years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. Additional counts against Harris include maintaining a drug house, a high-court misdemeanor carrying a penalty of 2 years in prison and felony firearm punishable by two years in prison which must be served consecutively with and preceding any other convictions imposed arising out of the case.  Harris’ bond has been set at $100,000 @ 10 %, pending a preliminary examination and trial.  Harris remains lodged at the Gogebic County jail.  Harris was also out on bond in Milwaukee County at the time of his Michigan offenses on pending criminal charges of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and OWI 2nd.  His   sentencing on those charges is scheduled in Milwaukee for January 27th
