GIANT busts Minnesota Man in Ironwood Township

IRONWOOD – On Tuesday the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team following up on an investigation initiated back in April were able to conduct a traffic stop leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old Minneapolis man in Ironwood Township.    Police say 33-year-old Daniel Jay Saarela of Minneapolis Minnesota has been connected to the distribution and use of controlled substances within the States of Michigan and Wisconsin. The investigation resulted in the seizure of Methamphetamine, Heroin, prescription narcotics, multiple weapons including a revolver, and over $2,000.00 in US currency.  Saarela was charged with Possession with felony Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin,  Felony Firearms, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and felony Weapons charges and misdemeanor Operating a Motor vehicle without license, charges.  The Michigan State Police assisted on scene.  Saarela remains lodged in the Gogebic County Jail with a $100,000 cash bond.
