IRONWOOD – Mount Zion Trail Bridges Need Work. Gogebic Community College is preparing to repair bridges on the Mount Zion nature trail. In 2016, a hundred-year flood severely damaged the two wooden bridges along the nature walk behind the ski chalet at Mount Zion. The college has had the repair project out for bids but has not yet received any. Contractors will face challenges accessing the bridges due to their location, in a soggy, marshy area; which could account for the lack of bids, as the work must be accomplished without disturbing the natural habitat surrounding the bridge.
