IRONWOOD – Gas prices in Michigan are down 11 cents from a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $5.06 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 50 cents more than this time last month and $1.95 more than this time last year. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has decreased by 8 cents to $4.90 from a week ago primarily due to a decline in crude oil prices. The most expensive gas price averages in the Upper Peninsula are in Chippewa county in the Eastern U.P. the lowest prices are in Alger County in the central U.P. at $4.67. In the Western U.P. Ironwood prices dipped below $5 a gallon briefly last week now at $5.09 a gallon this morning making the average fill-up at $76.
