HURLEY – Iron County’s first responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications thanks to the FirstNet network expansion currently underway by AT&T. The Company added a new, purpose-built cell site located in Iron County that serves the western part of the town of Oma near Pine Lake. This site will provide coverage along Highway 51 when traveling north and south of Pine Lake. It will also give first responders on FirstNet access to always-on, 24 hours-a-day priority and preemption across voice and data. Several new FirstNet cell sites in Wisconsin have already been launched in Bayfield, Butternut, Cable, Clam Lake, Marengo, Minocqua and Saxon. This new infrastructure will also help improve the overall coverage experience for AT&T wireless customers in Iron County. Residents, visitors and businesses van take advantage of the AT&T spectrum bands. FirstNet is the only nationwide, high-speed broadband communications platform dedicated to and purpose-built for America’s first responders and the extended public safety community.
