F-16 Training through next week

IRONWOOD / ASHLAND – Some have reported loud booms similar fireworks or even a small explosion in the Western U.P. and Northern Wisconsin over the last week. The cause is the 148th Fighter Wing from Duluth conducting night flights. Most of the flights are occurring over Lake Superior but at times the pilots fly over populated areas in the Western U.P. and Northern Wisconsin. The training is expected to continue through next Thursday. Residents in Northern Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the north shore of Minnesota and may hear F-16s taking off, flying, and landing during the late afternoon and evening. All F-16s are expected to be on the ground by 10:45pm.
