HURLEY – Election Day is Tuesday in Iron County and throughout Wisconsin. Voters in Wisconsin head to the polls on Tuesday. An open seat on the state Supreme Court will be on the ballot across the state, with former Supreme Court justice Daniel Kelly and Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Janet Protasiewicz running for the seat vacated by Justice Patience Roggensack’s retirement in July. That seat has a ten-year term. There are plenty of local contests and ballot initiatives to be decided statewide. Iron County has many town positions on the ballot running unopposed, as do the Hurley and Mercer School Boards, however voters in Mercer will be choosing a new town board chairman and two town supervisors. Mercer voters will also decide on a referendum asking to exceed the district’s revenue limit in order to raise just under three quarters of a million dollars a year for the next three years to maintain operations, programs and facilities.
