Dog stuck in Hurley Sewer system saved!

Written by on April 15, 2021

HURLEY – A rescue effort to save a dog that ended up in the sewer system was successful.  The Hurley Police and Public Works departments successfully retrieved a dog that ended up in the sewer system on Second Avenue near downtown Hurley yesterday morning.  The 13-year-old German wire hair pointer, ventured off into a culvert shortly before 9 a.m. The culvert starts at the west side of Second Avenue and runs under the road before merging with the city’s storm drain system and ending at the Montreal River.  The city workers were able to uncover and open a manhole, which was covered with gravel near the trailhead that allowed the rescuers to access the dog.  The dog wasn’t injured and was returned to her owners.
