DNR green lights Trail 2 reroute

WAKEFIELD – On Monday the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has given the green light on the New reroute of trail 2 from Bessemer to Wakefield. However, the Trail is not open yet.  The trail authority says the trail needs more work before it can open which should take about 2 to 3 weeks with some bulldozing to be done next week. After that comes the signage and grooming of the trail.  For now, snowmobilers can use old US-2 through Ramsey to connect from Bessemer to Wakefield.  Snowmobilers are asked to follow the rule of the law and stay on the trails.  The DNR rushed approval of the new trail connecting Bessemer and Wakefield after the owners of SnowRiver Mountain decided to close the section of trail that runs through their property last fall siting liability concerns.
