WAKEFIELD – President and CEO Charles Skinner of the new Snowriver Mountain Resort Comments on his decision to close Trail 2 though his ski resort property. The President and CEO has posted a response to the intense discussion surrounding the closure of the snowmobile trail through the new Snowriver Mountain Resort, formerly known as Big Snow. Appreciation of the feedback was expressed, with the post stating the company “looks forward to working with the local community to help strengthen the economy and continue to be both a good neighbor and good steward of the land they operate on.” The post went on to state that the current trail has been operating without a written use agreement and that allowing the continued use of the trail without an adequate liability plan was not feasible. Snowriver Mountain also has offered financial assistance to a local snowmobile club to come up with an alternate route. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority says the closure splits a direct route from Wakefield to Bessemer, Ironwood and Hurley via the snowmobile trail system.
