Boutique Airlines resigns from their contract with Gogebic Iron County Airport.

Written by on May 11, 2021

IRONWOOD — Boutique Airlines announced that they will stop serving the Gogebic Iron County Airport.  This comes after news of scary moments when an emergency exit door flew open just moments before take-off last week on a plane bound for the Gogebic Iron County Airport in Ironwood last week.  Shawn Simpson, CEO of Boutique Airlines attended a meeting of the Gogebic Iron County Airport board meeting this morning saying, “We’re not trying to hide or deny anything.” Continuing by saying the two pilots on board that flight last week failed to complete a pre-flight checklist, which he believes contributed to the accident.  Both pilots’ employment with the airline was terminated as of Sunday.  This morning Boutique Airline reps announced that they plan to resign from their contract with the Gogebic Iron County airport but will continue to providing services until the Gogebic Iron County Airport is able to find another option.  Last week’s accident isn’t the first incident involving a Boutique Airlines Flight.  According to the Chicago Department of Aviation, on January 26th, a wheel fell off a Boutique Airlines flight headed from Ironwood to Chicago O’Hare Airport.  No one was hurt in either of these incidents.
