Ashland ending mask mandate

ASHLAND – The Ashland City Council has voted to end the city’s mask mandate.  The action follows recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear masks. In announcing the change in a social media post, Mayor Debra Lewis cautioned that the end of the mask mandate does not mean that health risks from COVID-19 have ended.  Lewis said the city continues to urge unvaccinated residents to wear masks indoors and practice social distancing. Businesses can still choose to require masks.  Bayfield, Red Cliff, and Superior have also recently ended their mask requirements.
