LANSING – Additional SNAP Benefits Available This Month for the State. Michigan families who are eligible for food assistance benefits will receive an additional $95 monthly payment this month. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said the additional payment will help lower the cost of groceries for 1.31 million Michiganders in more than 700,000 households. All households eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive an increase, even if they are already receiving the maximum payment or are close to that amount. The federal government is providing additional funding to states for food assistance under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. Those eligible do not have to reapply. Cardholders should check the balance on their Michigan Bridge Card online or by calling customer service.
