COVID vaccinations start today at area nursing homes.

IRONWOOD – The first COVID vaccination clinic for staff and residents at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley will take place on Monday, and at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield on Jan 7. Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living in Ironwood will be held Jan. 22 at Westgate. A follow-up alternate vaccination date for each location will be announced in the near future. The second booster vaccination for individuals who receive the initial shot will occur approximately 20 days later. Administration of the vaccine is under the private-public partnership model with Walgreens and staff of the pharmacy will be providing the Moderna brand vaccine at the series of immunization clinics.
