IRONWOOD – Yesterday in person classes resumed but High School students on the Gogebic Range will be going back on remote learning starting tomorrow as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s order closing high schools across the state is set to take effect. In Ironwood 7th & 8th Graders will continue with their A/B schedule as planned, with Group A attending today Group B -Thursday and Friday. K-6 students will continue with their regular 5 day schedule. In Wakefield- Marensico all students in grades K-12 will begin virtual learning starting tomorrow. Bessemer Schools all grades will start remote learning with grades k-8 returning for in person classes after the Thanksgiving break on November 30th. The start of winter athletic season for all schools is postponed. The state has seen fewer outbreaks linked to elementary and middle schools and those students are determined to be most in need of in-person instruction, according to the state’s announcement, which is why the order to return to remote learning is limited to high school students. The state order targets indoor social gatherings and other group activities as state officials look to curb rapidly raising COVID-19 infection rates locally and throughout the state.
