GOGEBIC / IRON COUNTY –The Michigan Department of Health is reporting 348 cases of COVID19 in Gogebic County that’s an increase of 31 since yesterday. Ontonagon County with 114 an increase of 12 since yesterday. While the Wisconsin Department of Health reports 217 cases in Iron County an increase of 1 since yesterday. As of yesterday there have been a total of 6,354 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula during this outbreak. Of those, at least 2,958 are considered recovered and 129 have resulted in death. The seven-day average for positive tests in the U.P. sits at 7.5%. Upper Michigan added 280 coronavirus cases Monday, in combined Sunday and Monday totals. COVID-19 hospitalizations, out of the 10 U.P. hospitals and health systems reporting, show 59 COVID-19 patients in Upper Michigan as of Monday, Nov. 2. Twenty-two patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU). Aspirus hospitals have ten coronavirus patients, with six in the ICU. Wisconsin has recorded another 3,433 coronavirus cases and three more deaths, continuing a COVID-19 surge that began in early September. The number of people hospitalized also hit a new high Monday at 1,648. The seven-day average for new cases hit 4,463 on Monday, nearly double what it was a month ago and more than six times as high as what it was before the surge began two months ago. Gogebic and Ontonagon County schools holding Online classes through Friday that includes Gogebic Community College, Ironwood Campus also holding Online through Friday.
