HURLEY – Today is election day in Iron County and Throughout Wisconsin. Voter’s head to the polls to vote who will take the open seat on the state Supreme Court. Former Supreme Court justice Daniel Kelly and Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Janet Protasiewicz running for the seat vacated by Justice Patience Roggensack’s retirement in July. That seat has a ten-year term. There are plenty of local contests and ballot initiatives to be decided statewide today. Iron County has many town positions on the ballot running unopposed, as do the Hurley and Mercer School Boards, however voters in Mercer will be choosing a new town board chairman and two town supervisors. Mercer voters will also decide on a referendum asking to exceed the district’s revenue limit in order to raise just under three quarters of a million dollars a year for the next three years to maintain operations, programs and facilities. Polls are now open.
