LAC DU FLAMBEAU – The Lac du Flambeau Town Board Responding to the Lac due Flambeau Tribe Regarding Barricades put in place trapping some residents in their homes. In the third special session meeting of the Lac du Flambeau town board midweek last week, the board gave town chairman Matt Gaulke authorization to give the president of the Lac Du Flambeau tribal president John Johnson a letter of response to his letter regarding the ongoing conflict between the tribe and title companies. The town board asked the tribe for a 60-day period in which the barricades would be removed, and an agreement would be reached. Johnson’s response letter stated that the barriers would remain until the town, the title companies and the right of way applicants make a good faith compensation. After the letter is shared with the tribal council, it will be posted on the town’s website.
