Gogebic County COVID cases SPIKE to over 40 cases in one day.

GOGEBIC / IRON COUNTY –The Michigan Department of Health is reporting a HUGE jump of COVID 19 cases in Gogebic County in the last 24 hours.  MDH reporting 283 cases of COVID19 in Gogebic County that’s an increase of 42 since yesterday with 3 new deaths in Gogebic County putting the death toll now at 5.  That’s the largest one day spike in Gogebic County since the pandemic began.  The spike in cases in Gogebic County puts the positivity rate now at 6.7%.  Ontonagon County with 87 an increase of 14 since yesterday. While the Wisconsin Department of Health reports 184 cases in Iron County an increase of 1 since yesterday.  As of last night, there have been a total of 5,181 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula during this outbreak. Of those, at least 2,386 are considered recovered and 98 have resulted in death. The seven-day average for positive tests in the U.P. has risen to 6.7% – the highest since early April.  COVID-19 hospitalizations, out of the 10 U.P. hospitals and health systems reporting, show 71 COVID-19 patients in Upper Michigan as of Monday, Oct. 26. Twenty of those patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU).  Aspirus hospitals have nine patients, with five in the ICU. Wisconsin has reached a disturbing milestone as the coronavirus pandemic continues to surge unchecked across the state. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 2,883 newly confirmed cases on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the state since the pandemic began in March to 201,049.
