Accident in Ontonagon sends one to the hospital.

Written by on April 2, 2021

ONTONAGON, Mich. – A man was injured following a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Ontonagon.  According to the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office, a 55-year-old man was driving north on River Street, near Quartz Street, at 5:33 a.m. April 1, when he lost control of his vehicle. This caused the driver to hit a parked, unoccupied pickup truck, before continuing onto the sidewalk. From there, the sheriff’s office says the man hit a lamp pole, a small tree, an unoccupied SUV, and the fronts of UP North Café and Roxey’s Bar & Grill.  The man received facial wounds, likely from the airbag deployment the sheriff’s office said. SONCO Ambulance took him to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital for treatment of his injuries.  The sheriff’s office says the crash remains under investigation, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
