Summer Road Projects

GOGEBIC COUNTY - MDOT says it is planning 38 major road projects in the U.P. this year. In Gogebic County a nearly 12-mile stretch of US-2 will be rebuilt from Old US-2 West of Watersmeet Road easterly to the Gogebic/Iron County Line along with a mile of Roadway on US-2 in Wakefield from Eddy Street to Pierce Street and nearly 7 miles of road work from the Wisconsin State Line north to US-2 on Highway 45. MDOT also planning a Bridge replacement project this summer on US-2 over the Powdermill Creek between Ironwood and Bessemer. In Ontonagon County a couple of projects in the works this summer on M-28, M-26 and Highway 45. The construction season usually runs May through October.
