MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Republicans are unlikely to include their plan for a flat income tax rate in the state budget. Co-chairs of the Republican-controlled Legislature’s powerful budget committee said at a WisPolitics.com event yesterday that they plan to cut taxes in the budget but set aside the flat-tax proposal as a long-term goal. Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has promised to veto the Republican tax plan if it is passed.
