Water rate increase coming to Ashland
Written by Jesse Baroka on March 6, 2023
ASHLAND – The plan to increase water and sewer rates in Ashland is still happening…just not right away. Regulatory issues have put a slowdown on the rate hike, but Ashland residents will still see an increase in their bills when new meters are installed on every home and business within the city limits later this year, which will replace a good portion of the existing meters which are more than two decades old. Those old meters don’t record true usage, so there’ll be an uptick in efficiency and income to the city.. The city will probably raise rates when it starts working on replacing the pipe from Chequamegon Bay that transports water to the city treatment plant.
