Wakefield Library Board compensates former library director

WAKEFIELD – Wakefield Library Board Compensates Former Library Director. The former director of the Wakefield Public Library has been given his accumulated sick and vacation pay. The Globe says the library board held a special meeting last week to decide whether to compensate Joel Laessig approximately $2,500 for 157 hours vacation and five hours of sick time. Library chair Loraine Mussati pointed out that the library has budgeted for his payroll, so it shouldn’t be a hardship. The board voted 3-1 to award Laessig the pay, with Alyssa Ahonen voting against the move, stating that since Laessig resigned he did not fulfill his commitment and therefore shouldn’t receive those benefits.
