Wakefield conducting a soft close starting today due to COVID-19

WAKEFIELD – Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases locally the city of Wakefield conducting what they call a soft shut down starting today through February 11th.  According to a press release from the city of Wakefield All public meetings of the city will remain in-person and open to the public. However, they highly encourage those who are sick to use a virtual option to participate in meetings.  The Municipal Building will be closed to the public, with a few exceptions including the municipal gym will remain accessible to the public by reservation only and the selecting and purchasing of cemetery plots will remain in-person and may be scheduled with the Wakefield City Clerk.   All office staff will be available during regular working hours by phone or email. Additionally, City Staff can schedule virtual one-on-one meetings upon request but ask you wear a mask during those meetings.  Wakefield residents are being asked to utilize the City’s drop box to deposit all payments.  All work orders which require City Staff to enter homes or garages are suspended unless an emergency is present.
