Mercers deals with blight.

MERCER – The Town of Mercer is looking at new ways to address complaints about dilapidated properties and other eyesores. One new idea is to hire a part-time officer who would be charged with enforcing the town’s blight ordinance. According to the Daily Globe current policy is to send a letter to the scofflaw and allow a specific time period for them to address the violation. The letter’s mailing also starts the clock on any legal process by the town. No action was taken on hiring an officer at Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.
