GOGEBIC / IRON COUNTY –The Michigan Department of Health is reporting 517 cases of COVID19 in Gogebic County an increase of 18 since Friday. Ontonagon County with 232 cases an increase of 7 since Friday. While the Wisconsin Department of Health reports 326 cases in Iron County an increase of 12 since Friday. Upper Michigan added 203 coronavirus cases and 3 new deaths Saturday. As of Saturday, afternoon there have been a total of 10,679 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula during this outbreak. Of those, at least 4,602 are considered recovered and 203 have resulted in death. The seven-day average for positive tests in the U.P. sits at 12.3%. COVID-19 hospitalizations, out of the 10 U.P. hospitals and health systems reporting, show 89 COVID-19 patients in Upper Michigan as of Thursday. Of those, 21 are in the intensive care unit (ICU). Aspirus Ironwood has 3 COVID patients with all 3 in ICU and Aspirus Ironwood has a 50% bed occupancy. Aspirus Ontonagon has Zero COVID patients, with on a 20% bed occupancy level. Wisconsin has surpassed 3,000 COVID-19 deaths, adding a about third of that tally in November. The state Department of Health Services reported 51 deaths on Saturday, bringing the state’s death toll to 3,005 since the pandemic began.
