MINOCQUA – The Lakeland Union High School Board of Education had to make a bit of a U-turn with regard to it’s decision to hire a new head baseball coach for the district. The Lakeland Times reports that district administrator Smudde said they were all ready to hire their #1 candidate when their background check came back with some issues that precluded them from being hired, including a drunk driving charge and federal bail jumping charges. The person who was second on the short list for the position will be hired pending completion of the same background check process.
