Ironwood water treatment plant plans move forward

IRONWOOD – Ironwood City Commission Approves New Water Treatment Plant. The Ironwood City Commission approved an engineering service agreement to begin work on the estimated $ 9.7 million dollar water treatment and pumping station. The design process on the plant will take place over the summer and fall with a call for bids expected to go out in early 2022. Work on the plant will be funded by a grant of just under 44% of the total budget with the remaining funds coming through loans at 1.25% interest. The less the city has to pay for the project, the less water rates will have to go up.
