IRONWOOD – Ironwood Getting Closer to Starting Work on New Water Treatment Plant… The proposed water treatment plant has come in over budget. According to Ironwood City Manager Paul Anderson, all the bids for the project came in over budget again, but the numbers are getting closer to being workable. Bids for the plant came in at $14.4 million. The city has secured a Rural Development grant for $7.6 million. The city has split the project into two phases, using that grant for phase 1. Earlier in the month, the city opened Phase 1 for bids, which came in just over $9 million. The city will look for supplemental funding from Rural Development and will look for other funding sources.
